The garden we are trying to build outside @crew_club begun to take shape today. Yeah it’d be ace to have loads of money to go out and buy swanky planters but there was something so gratifying about making this. I actually made something! (with @new_beginnins_plants obvs ) and OK I still don’t know the difference between a drill and a saw. Come and join us on one of our volunteer days every Thursday 9am - midday. The crew we’ve got together are top notch and everyone always leaves smiling. It’s feel good stuff. The kids we planted the seedlings with last week were still talking about it this week. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve been working with The Little Diggers this week at @crew_club as part of my @brightonfestival East Brighton Artist residency. We planted the seeds for beetroot, courgettes, mixed salad….the list goes on. They kept eating loads of apples because they wanted to plant the pips to grow into trees! Gardener Adam @new_beginnins_plants has discovered a genius way of getting kids to eat fruit. I think we may have accidentally started an orchard!

Had the best day hanging out with Kerry and Scarlet from @whitehawkcommunityfoodproject get your arses up there if you can, it’s a little Utopia. There’s so much to learn, so many things we can forage for food and medicine. We just need the knowledge and there’s so many knowledgeable people like Kerry and Scarlet willing to pass on their experience and wisdom. Lucky old us.

Hi Team, we are looking for Diggers volunteers to come and help clear bramble and make way for a community garden in Whitehawk, Brighton. The land we are reclaiming will become the site for a re-enactment and Feastival as part of @brightonfestival on May 11th.

For the gardening we are meeting every Thursday 9am - midday from 14th March - 9th May to roll up our sleeves and I'd love it if any of you could come along. I know nowt about gardens so you'll be relieved to know we've got land worker Adam to show us the ropes. DM me if ya interested. Thanks Vic x

Wow Facebook is sharing some memories. Here's Ugly Chief the show I made with dad. You know the old adage "never work with children or animals" well i've worked with both so I think it should be "never work with your dad or Mike Melody". What an absolute cantankerous diva. We couldn't help but bring the difficulties we had back stage on to stage. Resulting in a meaningful and nuanced show that highlighted the dysfunctional love between a dad and his daughter. It's a show that had daughters and sons ringing up their parents straight after at 10-11pm! Waking them up, worrying them...just to tell them they loved them. Streams of people wrote to me and told me they had done this.
It's without doubt the hardest and emotionally grueling project I've ever worked on. I actually decided to give up theatre after it and become a stand-up comedian hence the birth of Head Set. After years performing in basements and toilets all over the country I realised that my stand-up is as weird and niche as my theatre and so now I'm back making weird and niche theatre that's a bit more funny.
Would I still have made that show with dad if I could turn back time? 6 years later (it's taken 6 years to get over it....genuinely!) and on reflection, yeah I'm glad we made it, I think we successfully captured how love is warts and all complex. Making it directly changed the course of my life, change although uncomfortable is growth and nobody wants to become stagnant.
I love you dad you old sod, we made something raw and beautiful and had our souls on display for everyone to see. I'm grateful. Not a lot of kids get to spend that amount of time healthy and hanging out with their parents together in adulthood. We went to New Orleans funded by the British Council! What a rare and precious adventure we had.
Thanks also to the incredible team who 1. put up with us and the heated rows. 2. help us to pull off this beast of a show, 8 of us on the road, wild.....never again though!!!
I realise this makes dad sound dead but I want to reassure you he is very much alive. How we don't know, he's never exercised a day in his life and has lived on a diet of fags, merlot and pork pies.

8 years ago I made a show called Hair Peace and when I pronounced it in my accent it sounded like herpes. I realised too late. So every night it sounded like I was saying welcome to herpes.

I’m an over sharer so keeping this a secret for months has been bloody near impossible. I am finally allowed to announce that I am this year’s Our Place - Brighton Festival Artist in Residence for East Brighton. In addition, I’ve been commissioned to put on my most ambitious community project to date “Re-Enactment”.

The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed that I have been embedding myself in historical re-enactment specialising in the English Civil War (I’m a musketeer) and vegetable growing. For Brighton Festival these two Worlds will collide. There will be a historical re-enactment of the pacifist activist group The Diggers (made up of vegetable growers and food volunteers) who will be reclaiming our land and growing vegetables, a skirmish with The Parliamentarians (the English Civil War Re-enactment Society) as they try to reinstate the land, a choir singing Diggers songs, an authentic 17th century banquet for EVERYBODY cooked authentically over log fires, Mark Thomas, me dressed as Gerrard Winstanley, performances, allotment activism, mischief and music. It will be part re-enactment; part demonstration and part live art piece and it’s going to be bloody brilliant.

This Sunday me and my old mucker George are parading up and down Whitehall as musketeers. Because of silly fun (and the new show Shhhh) The march will commence at around 11:30 and start somewhere around the mall. There going to be like a 1000 of us so should be easy to spot. Come and film us because I can’t get my phone out cause its not authentic. It’s to commemorate the beheading of King Charles 1st. At one time in history, we killed the king.

They say that capricorns are serious little children that become more childish as they age. I just had chocolate for breakfast so if this 40’s then bring on 70’s. Thank you for the best birthday ever. Luckily there weren’t many photos taken but I’m enjoying me in a pink lame frufru dress and leopard print slippers and gloves, all gifts. My friends know me so well.
