Alright Team,

I want you lot to hear it first… I’m making a new show!

It’s a big bubbling stew pot of everything I’ve been up to over the last few years: getting divorced, joining a re-enactment society, working with the community, growing vegetables. It might sound random — but I promise, it all ties together.

I’m working with Mark Thomas for the first time and it’s an absolute masterclass. He’s really putting me through my paces though. We’ve just finished two weeks on the script at Brighton Dome and by the end, I’d developed an eye twitch. BUT the script is so good. Now I just have to learn it (cue return of the eye twitch).

There’s a big conversation happening right now among artists and performers — do we tackle the monsters taking over the world, or do we offer people some escapism? I’ve decided to make a show that pushes back in a different way. It celebrates the beauty of community, yes — but it’s also about who has the right to land and to space. Every character in it is a legend. I honestly can’t wait to share it with you.

It’s called Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak, and I’ll be announcing tour dates for 2025 in the coming weeks.

But for those of you who fancy a sneak peek, we’re doing a work-in-progress at Brighton Fringe on 8 May at 7pm. It’s so secret that it’s not even got the correct title on the website! It would mean a lot to have some friendly faces in the crowd. And hopefully, by then, I’ll have the script nailed and be off-book… nothing like the looming threat of on-stage humiliation to focus the mind!

Massive Love to you all!

and this is the show blurb

Victoria Melody joined a historical re-enactment society… because we all deal with divorce differently! Spending weekends as a Musketeer trying to get her head straight, she uncovered the story of a bunch of 17th-century radicals called The Diggers—and everything changed.

What started as a personal search for happiness turned into a quest to find the Diggers of today. She didn’t expect to find them far from the battlefield, right on her doorstep. Blending storytelling and stand-up, past and present collide in this tale of high jinks and resistance. Directed by Mark Thomas, this celebrates the ordinary people still shaping history.
