Thank you Shildon for having us last night. There was a proper dressing room, complete with a couch and a loo, so a five star dressing room rating from me. We had a lovely time, the audience were top notch and the post show Q&A was absolutely stacked with thoughtful, meaningful questions.I am so excited to be starting a 10 month residency here. I am going to do my very best to work with young people and celebrate the magic in this special place. Thanks for looking after us.#TourDiary #Shildon #ResidencyLife #CommunityTheatre #troublestrugglebubble

🚨 NEW YORK! 🚨Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak is heading your way. It’s on at @59e59 from 15 April to 3 May as part of the Brits Off Broadway 2026 season.Ticket link in bio. Please tell everyone in New York. I honestly can’t wait to share this wild true story with you.Nominated for a BBC Popcorn Award for Writing⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Guardian “A joyful testament to people power, a heartening parable about the possibility of collective action.”⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Stage “A hymn to community and solidarity.”⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The List “A moving and inspirational comic call to arms.”⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Quintessential Review “I doubt there will be many shows that restore your faith in community more.”Award-winning theatre maker and “Fringe legend” (Time Out) Victoria Melody joined a historical re-enactment society… because we all deal with divorce differently.Spending weekends as a Musketeer trying to get her head straight, she uncovered the story of a group of 17th-century radicals called the Diggers and everything changed. What began as a personal search for happiness became a quest to find the Diggers of today. She didn’t expect to find them far from the battlefield, right on her own doorstep.Blending storytelling and stand-up, past and present collide in a tale of high jinks and resistance. Directed by Mark Thomas, this show celebrates the ordinary people still shaping history. #TroubleStruggleBubble #BritsOffBroadway #59E59 #NYCTheatre #OffBroadway

My artist residency in Shildon as part of @nheartlands has started. I’ve been to so many community groups and sessions and meetings. I’ve been into schools, youth clubs, craft sessions, allotments, museums, food banks, the church! People have started saying “alright Vic” to me in the street and inviting me to things. I’ve absorbed so much local knowledge and people’s stories. And my tour is kicking off here on 8th February at Shildon’s Civic Hall. There was a boxing ring in there last time I visited hopefully that won’t be there on the 8th Feb. Tickets in the bio if you want to come.

I’m sad to say that Ronny has died. Some of you will have met him when we collaborated on “The Enthusiasts” for Brighton Festival in May 2023. When I first went up to Ronny and the boys pigeon lofts, I begged them if I could make an art piece with them and bring the public up to meet them and hear their stories. They weren’t sure if the public would be interested but they were keen to promote pigeon racing as it’s dying out and needs new members. I sound recorded Ronny, Danny and Tracy and it was one of the easiest art pieces I’ve ever made. They were all such exceptional characters and their conversations about pigeon racing brought up so many topics - climate change (pigeons are losing their homing instincts) the cost-of-living crisis (the price of corn is getting too expensive) ageing and so much more. They were so funny and interesting, I managed to record them in almost one take. Ronny’s passion was contagious; he’d been flying pigeons for 80 years. I voice recorded him chain smoking in his shed, he’d had a triple heart bypass a month earlier, but he still worked full time and managed to get to his pigeons every single day at 5am before he started work. Another time when I went to visit him, he was in tears a fox had got in and killed all of his pigeons. He had to get Danny and Tracy to clean the mess up because he was so gutted. He’d had some of those pigeons for years, they were his mates. He said that he was 87 years old, this is right at the beginning of the racing season and now he couldn’t join in, he said he’s old he might not get to see another season. It was incredibly moving. Then other pigeon fanciers turned up at the lofts, they had baby pigeons (squabs) to give to Ronny. Some of these fanciers are the best racers in the country and they brought squabs for Ronny to start again. Tracy – Ronny’s son said “Ronny you’ve ended up with better pigeons then you had before, you might actually stand half a chance of winning a race”.He was also incredibly flirtatious. Rest in peace Ronny, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you! Legend.Photos by @rosiepowellfreelance and @themattstronge@brighton_dome @brightonfestival

I’m on tour with Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak from this February. We have last minute added some gorgeous additional gigs that aren’t in art centres/traditional venues but that are in community centres, civic halls and even a barn. I always wanted to make work that would fill stunning 500-seater venues like the Brighton Corn Exchange but that I could also take to working mens clubs and community centres. These types of gigs are actually my fav. My technician hates them because the tech usually consists of a wireless speaker and a floor lamp but the atmosphere is unmatchable. Can you make any of the dates, if so let me know?????Spring 2026 TOUR DATES8 Feb – Shildon, County Durham @nheartlands10 Feb – Rochdale @touchstones_rochdale11 Feb – Salford @the_lowry @warnmcr 12 Feb – Chichester @the_showroom_chichester21 Feb – Crawley @creativecrawley28 Feb – Swaffham @nnfest5 Mar – Shoreham @ropetackleart6 Mar – Farnham @farnhammaltings7 Mar – Hertford @beamhertford15 May – Ipswich @newwolsey

Fresh out of therapy with my cheeks flushed from a sauna. My friend bought me this umbrella because I love things with faces. Ate a croissant walking round Tescos. Did a bit of work. Getting a new floor in my house so I don’t wake up downstairs. My friend cooked me a sashimi grade tuna dinner and we played cards. Giddy to see a fox on the way home. The other day we did a street art tour round Brighton because I like looking at my home town in new ways. Then we went back to mine, I lit a fire and we ate pizzas and stayed up till too late because the conversations between friends didn’t stop flowing. Some of them had never met before. Another year older and just so grateful. Thanks for all your birthday messages.

So many things are going on in this video. LOLHere is Bryan one of the stars of my Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak show. I went to visit him and Janet to see how they were getting on. @eastbrightonfoodcoop.uk How is East Brighton Food Co-op, which delivers hot, nutritious meals across Brighton and Hove to people who are unable to cook for themselves, not receiving regular funding? They are quite literally keeping people out of hospital and saving the NHS vast amounts of money. This is prevention, not cure.Janet and Bryan worked tirelessly over Christmas. They have not been paid in months. They cannot keep going like this.More people than ever are relying on food banks and community meals on wheels, yet funding has been cut. Meanwhile, the NHS spends over £20 billion a year dealing with malnutrition.Janet and Bryan already have the solution: food. Nutritious, hot meals made from rescued food, delivered with care to the people who need them most.If we are serious about health, dignity and prevention, organisations like East Brighton Food Co-op should be properly and consistently funded.
